Located in Central America, between Costa Rica and Colombia, Panama, is home to the second largest rainforest in the Western Hemisphere, with some of the most unique plants, animals and birds not found elsewhere on earth. The country, with a population of just 3.4 million, is made up of mountains in the west, hills in the interior, and plains on its east coast.

Panama is renown for its Canal, which was built by the US between 1904 and 1914, and since late 1999 completely owned by the Panamanians. An engineering accomplishment in its own right, the Canal connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

The attraction of Panama’s forest (found on its Carribean side) and coastlines including the Archipielago de las Perlas, and Volcan Baru (Panama’s only volcano) guarantees days of endless adventures. Panama’s tropical maritime and short dry climate invites travellers to enjoy a country which is yet to experience a major tourism boom like its neighbour Costa Rica. Its amazing unspoilt beaches and coastline offer picturesque locations for travellers on all budgets.
