5 ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank.
1. FLOWERS
Buy flowers or a plant (but not roses) – The day when the roses are so expensive as gold nuggets, why not surprise your partner with something else, something different. There are many other varieties of flowers and exotic plants that you can choose from. Most nurseries in Australia also have wonderful cafes. It can be a romantic date – pick the flowers / plants together and then enjoy sipping a hot cup of tea or coffee with a piece of cake.
2. ROMANTIC DINNER AT HOME
Make a meal together at home! Ok, this requires a little work, but why not try that recipe you’ve always wanted to prepare. Include your partner and make sure you have all the ingredients without interruptions (reference grandparents here if necessary). Cooking together (I’m sure most of the times, it’s not possible in a normal day), and then enjoy the fruits of their labor, it’s more satisfying than being seated in a crowded restaurant where the waiters are waiting to clear the seat for the next customer.
3. TIME FOR YOU
Be kid free! If you have children, this applies to you, and you know what I mean !! Organize grandparents or other potential caretakers to entertain children. Just go to the movies, or simply watching a movie at night with a glass of wine, has the potential to lead to a romantic evening. Well, at least you get to see the whole film – which very often can be an achievement in itself, where little ones sleep without interuption.
4. GO FOR A WALK
Go for a walk, hand in hand! When was the last time you went for a walk?
5. WRITE A LETTER
Present a love letter to your other half. When was the last time you wrote a letter, in your own handwriting, professing your love? What a nice feeling to know how much you love her? If you’re not the best writer, do not worry, she’ll appreciate it.
